After all the world has been through, many of us humans are continually trying to figure out new paths, especially in the arena of connectivity. Poised to soundtrack this burgeoning new navigation comes the twilight-dusted recent single “Loose Future” from acclaimed Phoenix-based singer-songwriter Courtney Marie Andrews.
In a Facebook post dated 12 July 2022 the Grammy-nominated songwriter/poet says of the single, “This is a song for all you hurt and hesitant lovers out there. A song for our very unpredictable futures. A song for summer and a song for love when you’re self-aware enough to know what love can become.”
I’d argue that this maliciously constructed and picturesque track, co-produced by Sam Griffin Owens and Andrews, will reach much further than summer. As love has a wandering soul of its own, not often does this affection recognize the changing of seasons. It’s kinda twisty the way it manifests.
The one-take V Haddad-directed music video is also detailed in the same Facebook post, “When I first concepted this video, I wanted to showcase how the world places all its impressions and stereotypes onto us, and the importance of sticking to our own true north so we can brace ourselves for a future in which we are satisfied with all the decisions we have made.”
The instant Americana classic “Loose Future” conjures up all sorts of emotional states of mind folks find themselves in. So, as it has already, this single will continue to resonate with many for the foreseeable…future.
This release is taken from the eagerly anticipated album by the same name, which is expected to arrive on 7 October via Fat Possum Record. As you prep to preorder, you can stream the single and see its film, here at the GTC.
