The Dresden Dolls – ‘Yes, Virginia…” (2006)

“He took his pain and turned it into something beautiful. Into something that people connect to. And that’s what good music does. It speaks to you. It changes you.” – Hannah Harrington

Pt. 4

The Dresden Dolls– “Yes, Virginia…” (2006)
If I said I was a fan of this album it would be an understatement. I was obsessed. It went everywhere with me (you know, just in case you have to get out your favorite Cd or something). I don’t even know anymore if The Dresden Dolls had a big following back then. Just didn’t pay attention. My house was filled with Amanda Palmer’s strict voice if you liked it or not. I didn’t really get into her solo stuff but the connection is still strong. How great would it be to have one of those evenings again that turn into nights where you play your favorite music for your friends secretly hoping they would love it as much as you do.

Voxtrot – “Voxtrot” (2007)
I was already the proud owner of Voxtrot’s record “Voxtrot” when I met my husband. Met is the wrong word. When we started writing each other. Yes, we met online, yes, we got married and yes, we got two beautiful children. That’s a fact! It was the end of September 2007 when we became friends on Myspace. Can you say Myspace on Facebook without being reported? Just a thought. Apparently I wrote him a not so friendly message because he kept posting the same music over and over (my side of the story). We got into talking and it ended up with me visiting him in New York City, him moving to Vienna, us moving to Texas and now back to Germany. We should be promoters for a moving company. No kidding y’all!!!
