NEW SOUNDS: Boy George & Culture Club – “Let Somebody Love You”
Boy George & Culture Club – ‘Life’ is available now @ iTunes.
by Walter Price
Has it really been nearly twenty years since the last Culture Club album? .Perhaps time is inconsequential when a band has played such a significant role in your life’s soundtrack. But truth be told, it has been a couple decades and the band has dropped a new album ‘Life’ and a brilliant new single, “Let Somebody Love You”. With thoughts of protest and acceptance set to the band’s familiar reggae groove, it’s a timely and refreshing ode to love and a great interruption to the current formulaic radio fare. What a treat.
Love is a revolution
War and famine too
Feed the hunger in your heart
Let somebody love you
Let somebody love you
Side Note: Boy George’s voice has gained a splash of crooner depth. Begging the question, “wouldn’t it be great to see a duets album in the future, à la Bennet, Mathis, or Stewart?’.
