FRESH!! PARTEFACTS A Dollar
by Walter Price
The dynamic disco trio Partefacts returns with a fresh track, “A Dollar”, to send 2021 off in a haze of ‘sparking synth pop’. The new single, with its heavy groove and discombobulated beats, is described by the Berliner collective as, “A narcotic pop track that moves with the endless momentum of a disco ball, “A Dollar” mirrors themes of isolation, inertia, and a loss of control. Tight rhythms and a driving low end frame a story of people out of phase; of glamour with a hint of violence. Nobody knows who’s changed, but this scene isn’t a good fit anymore.”
Heady, indelible, and zeitgeistian, “A Dollar”, is another showcase for Craig Schuftan’s tape loops and beats, Lani Bagley barbed and deceptively seductive vocals, and Christa Belle’s glockenspiel. That’s right, glockenspiel. Dancefloors and cerebral cortexes beware…
All and all, Partefacts, have another thought-provoking speaker-popping track that’s here to move us both mentally and physically in this cyclical mess we’re all in.
