For fans of Jimmy Eat World, Weezer, The Rentals, and the like, Bostonites in LA outfit The World Famous are here to keep the crunchy powerpop embers stoked. And from their wildly good listen LP, aptly(?) titled “totally famous” offer up the breezy single, “Hollywood Pawn”.
Almost any struggling musician knows the cycle of needing a bit of pocket money for this and that and having the uneasy urge to take a heavy interest-rate short-term loan. Voila, now there’s a jangly pop-rock song to soundtrack that angsty trip to the pawnbroker.
