Superchunk Hates Music?

Superchunk’s Mac McCaughan seems to be having, more than usual, deep thoughts before the bands new album, ‘I Hate Music’, drops tomorrow (Aug 20th).

He had a lot to say to RollingStone.com recently.

“If you’ve assigned music this role in your life, what happens when the other stuff that’s happening in your life is much heavier than that, when it just doesn’t work anymore?” McCaughan says to Rolling Stone. “Obviously, we don’t hate music, but at the same time it’s like, wow, if even this thing that’s most important to you – music – isn’t helping, or doesn’t feel like it’s worth anything in the face of what life can bring you, then what good is it?” -Mac McCaughan (RS.com)
Wow, I’ll have to chew on that for a while!
I Hate Music, will be the 10th release by the North Carolina DIY-Post-Punk jammers. And only the second to come out in the past 12 or so years. I guess they had other things to do..
You can order the album via Superchunk’s official website now. The band has also announced tour dates in support of I Hate Music and that info is conveniently located on the very same website! AWESOMENESS….
You should read the full RS.com article it is rather good. Click HERE.
