How many times in your life have you heard a bonafide pop song that was crafted by a real-life mermaid? Yeah, probably never. But I’m about to drop some lines about the new TikTik and teen melodrama soundtrack ready, “BRB”, by Toronto songstress and, according to recent legend, Mermaid, Sia Shells. But don’t worry, this isn’t a deadly siren song.
Rather, this single, according to Shells herself, “…is about checking out of reality to reconnect with your higher self and hone the magic from within, the creativity we all harness inside…new age meditation mantra, where we temporarily disconnect from the world to reconnect with ourselves.”
“BRB” comes paired with a color splash music video that seems as bubbly as the singer’s spirit. Oversized cupcakes, shells, balloons (bubbles), and a playful backdrop. It’s all there and it’s fantastical.
If you’re a fan of slowburn R&B beats, feel-good vibes or you could use some under-the-sea vibrancy in your day, this Mermaid-pop single and its music video may be the elixirs you need to bring out that Winter buried smile.
