by Maria Haskins

Cold War Love’ is taken from Black Star Riders’ album ‘Heavy Fire’ (read my review), one of the best albums released this year, as far as I’m concerned. It’s a fantastic tune, and if you haven’t checked out this album yet, you are missing out on some top-notch rock and roll!

The band has been touring all over the place this year, and are heading out for another round of UK tour-dates in November – get all the details on the band’s website. This tour is really going to be something special as it will include three other amazing bands: Blues Pills, Tax The Heat, and Dirty Thrills. Don’t miss this if you’re in the UK!

More about the band and the Coming Under Heavy Fire tour:

February 2017 saw Black Star Riders release their third studio album “Heavy Fire” to widespread critical acclaim. The album went on to gain worldwide chart success – reaching: #1 in the UK Rock and Indie charts, #3 in the UK Vinyl chart, #6 in the UK National chart, #11 in the German National chart, #6 in the USA Hard Rock chart, #22 USA Independent chart and #25 in the USA Rock chart.

Following a sold out European Tour in early 2017, Black Star Riders return to the UK for a headline tour in November 2017. They bring a stunning bill featuring, Blues Pills, Tax The Heat and Dirty Thrills.
“There’s nothing more exciting than playing live. BSR are absolutely thrilled to get back out in the U.K. a wonderful way to round out a great year!” – Ricky Warwick, Black Star Riders.

SILVERCORD – ‘Real Gone’

by Maria Savva

I found out about Silvercord on Twitter recently (thanks to @trypewriter01).

Silvercord is a grungy/alternative rock band from London, UK. They’ve just released their self-titled debut 3-track EP, and it’s great! I’ve picked “Real Gone” as my track of the day, which is reminiscent of early Alice In Chains / Soundgarden. It has that addictive grunge sound.

It’s well worth checking out the whole EP on Bandcamp and Follow Silvercord to keep up with their news on Facebook.

PALE SEAS – ‘Into the Night’

by Neil Schiller

Pale Seas hail from Southampton and had a couple of songs out back in 2012/2013. As far as I can tell they’ve had a minor lineup change and are back with a few new singles now and a debut album slated in for later this year.

I’ve been listening to this track for the past couple of weeks, having discovered it while I was on holiday (but too late to include it in my last set of track selections). I think it has everything going for it, from the moody Game of Thrones type artwork to the brilliant layered guitar work and atmospheric sound. Best of all is Jacob Scott’s voice which reminds me a little bit of Geddy Lee from Rush: somewhat androgynous, residing in an unusual register. It gives the whole thing something a bit unique. I like unique. And haunting. I like haunting too.

I need to give you a warning: this video does not so much contain flashing imagery as it is entirely comprised of flashing imagery. So be careful if you’re susceptible to that sort of thing.
