A night out, drinks, and a wild bunch of lecherous zombies out to get you (with you)—No, this isn’t Shaun of the Dead, this is a lass trying to cozy up to a bar for some peace of mind only to be interrupted. Repeatedly by a bunch of horney zombies. Or as The Doohickeys say about their single “Rein It In Cowboy”, “A woman just wants to be left alone in a bar, but instead her whole night is spent fending off all these brain-dead guys who really want to get to know her.”
With enough honky-tonk swagger and plenty of rockin’ country vibes, “Rein It In Cowboy” is a real charmer not to mention one of The Doohickeys’ well-executed singles. This one isn’t as snarky as previous songs but this outfit (Haley Spence Brown, Jack Hackett & Co.) is the real deal and it appears they want the world to know that they’re serious (enough) for the big time. And with a vocalist like Brown and a riff ace like Hackett; Mission Accomplished.
This rockin’ divebar track is from their forthcoming ‘All Hat No Cattle‘ (January 24, 2025) and has a must-see music video to boot. Follow Brown as she navigates a sea of pick-up line tossers, line-dancing shenanigans, and perhaps a hero—you’ll have to watch it to see all this, and thats. It’s a real hoot, in my opinion.
Shoot your shot, stream the single, and see its Chris Beyrooty/Jack Hackett-directed film—here at the GTC.

“Hailing from Missouri and Georgia respectively, Haley and Jack met doing comedy in Los Angeles but bonded over their love-hate relationship with country music. On a whim, they began writing their own songs that they dub “Cheeky Country.” – bio

Killer review! Thanks Walter!
