Really Pussy Riot, “F*#% the police”

Pussy Riot Refugees In..desperate people who need to flee seeking refuge by land and sea …”

If any one group of people knows about being suppressed by a nasty government it is Pussy Riot… Their freedom of speech smothered in a country ran by an egomaniac kicked in its mouth as the all-girl group rotted but not forgotten in a Russian jail only freed in my estimation when Putin couldn’t stand the international heat even with shirt off on horseback.

Anyway, I’m no historian but I do know the band is out and about the world doing some good deeds raising the social consciousness about a variety of things and, yes, using as they have their music do get messages out to the beleaguered masses.

Their latest isa  true to their name sonic riot with cause to bring support to the refugee debacle, saga, international problem or however you see it track, “Refugees In”. And I say for one minute forget your stance on the subject and consider these words in said new release, “Fuck the police”

Really Pussy Riot, fuck the police?! All of them? These evil no good son of a bitches? The ones who by international estimations are decent people hard working men and woman who struggle at low pay and toss themselves in harm’s way to protect people like you and I? Fuck them, really?

I get it; the song’s cry about governments being liars is accurate. That goes without saying. This refugee situation is heartbreaking at best but closer to a soul shattering tear stained cluster mess. Telling, and that is what your words are doing, the refugees to “Fuck the police!” is so uneducated and far from actual punk rock it saddens me.

When MC Ren and Ice Cube wrote similar lyrics in 1988 it was a direct response to the police brutality playing out in front of them every day in Compton. As far as protest songs, it is as well constructed and thought provoking as one can get. (Watch Video)

Your blanket worldwide chant is irresponsible at best.  The number of immigrants fleeing insane and tragic conditions will grow before things get better and the last thing the world needs is for the honest folk trying to start new lives is to go into a new host country with the idea it is okay to disrespect the police or authority of any land is the wrong avenue to travel/ Question authority and work for change is more my speed.

I’m no egghead (allegedly) but I assume a majority of police worldwide are good people who just do as orders require. Telling people to fuck the police is the same thing as those morons who scream, “Kill all Muslims”. So unbelievably not cool.

Otherwise, “Refugees In” is a good song and has already garnered much needed attention. I too would rather refugees of any kind to Nazis. That is an easy understanding as is the protest words about certain government’s handling of the situation(s). Then again, those governments are extremely overwhelmed at this point.

Compassion over violence, arrogance and disregard is my stance.
