Marily Dorion may be a new name to you but her swelling sentimental brand of folk-pop will invite you to remember her for the foreseeable future. Sung In French, her recent single “Délirium” is a beautifully uncompromising song with a rooted message of confusion in the wake of the newly adapted ways we all have found ourselves navigating.
Translated from the track’s original French lyrics, Dorion in her lullaby delivery contemplates, “I’m afraid everything will fall apart again/ Like in the time of the dinosaurs—For what?/ We just wait until our mother earth runs out of air…”. The following verse is a pointed one, “Yet another day spending my hours with my head in the sand to forget all this madness/ People are stupid, they just think about their belly buttons/ It’s a real collective delirium/ I’m afraid I’ve exhausted the number of times I could tell you that we tried to wake up.”. Heady and conscience, and made all the more palpable with the way Dorion gently delivers the message.
“Délirium” is a gorgeously produced track that breathes cerebral reality, and you can discover your next favorite indie pop artists by streaming the single and seeing its nature-inspired Fabrice Cloutier-helmed music video here, at the GTC.
