We’re living in the midst of the ‘secret’ horrors that have been enacted upon women. Those disgusting entertainment industry tales of powerful men forcing deeds that make our skin crawl. But we all know women have had violence, unspeakable acts, moments, and relationships that plague their lives. Not just from powerful men, but from everyday weak lovers, brothers, fathers, strangers, husbands, and scumbags from all walks of life. So it’s inevitable that thoughts of revenge would be conjured.

NRVS LVRS (Andrew Gomez and Bevin Fernandez) have released a powerful new single, “Lost To The Max”, from their new album ‘Electric Dread’. The song is a haunting examination of such devasting and historic abuses suffered by women. The subject matter is heavy here but there aren’t many vocalists that can get such daunting subject matters out in beautifully dark pop as Fernandez. It’s possible this is her best performance, to date. Which is an impressive feat considering the band’s stellar catalog.

From lonely streets to crowded bars
There is no place I can’t be harmed.
A violent stranger or my sweetheart
You’d think you could them apart.
All my mother’s fears were justified
I am always seen as a target
She’s been telling me for most my life:
We will always have it the hardest

Furthermore, NRVS LVRS have always understood the visual side of their music. The band continues with having award-winning visual artist Lauren Tabak helm the video for “Lost To The Max”. A video described by the band in a Facebook post, “A dark video for dark times, it is simultaneously a condemnation of violence against women and a revenge fantasy that spans 200 years.”

Tabak has created a creepy realism that is akin to the scenery and moods you’d find on TV shows like Hannibal or Dexter. Everything from storyline, lighting, and casting is indelibly done. Propelling NRVS LVRS message in what will captivate and cause thought.

“NRVS LVRS is the dreamy darkwave project of husband & wife duo Andrew Gomez and Bevin Fernandez. While citing acts like Massive Attack, Can, and Kate Bush as influences, their music flirts with caustic electro-pop elements similar to that of The Knife, Bat for Lashes, or Crystal Castles. The dulcet tones of Fernandez’s soaring vocals complimented by Gomez’s low crooning glide over layers of ominous synths and precise percussion to create compelling electronic soundscapes.” – bio
