Iron & Wine: Like A Reward
Sam Beam is back, as you may already know, as his alter ego Iron & Wine with his recent release Ghost On Ghost and now he has embarked on another big-time tour in support of this album.
This tour only seems to have North American dates (with the exception of a couple Australian stops). But this man seems to be a road warrior so let’s hope another round of European dates are just around the corner.
What I think is pretty interesting is that very few artists have had everything they record turn out extraordinary, in my humble opinion, that’s exactly what Iron & Wine have done in the five albums(and multiple EPs etc) of work musical greatness.
Maybe I can say, Sam Beam gets better with time like a fine Wine…Sorry, I just had to do it.
Ghost On Ghost doesn’t disappoint with it’s fine blend of crafty late 60s pop, country leanings, airy choruses, and a bit of jazzy coolness that goes to prove Iron & Wine’s constant musical evolution isn’t slowing down. Expansion in your craft doesn’t work for every artist but it does here. Surprised? Didn’t think so.
“This record felt like a reward to myself after the way I went about making the last few,” -Sam Beam (ironandwine.com)
Most likely you already know everything about the greatness that Is Iron & Wine but if you don’t this should be the time to get started.
