I’m not alone, SINGLE: AMY ELLEN – In The Dark
Amy Ellen – In The Dark is available at Spotify.

by Walter Price
A few singles in now and Irish songwriter Amy Ellen has returned with another timeless folk-based soft pop charmer, “In The Dark”. Although this tender release is more realtime and shadowy in nature, it’s a crawling and soulful 5 minute+ lament that’s certainly as beautiful and palpable as her previous singles, [“It’s Time” / “My Heart“]. Ellen explains this life chapter, “This song is about feeling lonely even though you’re not necessarily alone. I felt it was the right track to release coming out of lockdown.”
As delicate and vulnerable as this song is, its the powerful message that we all can relate to in these trying times. And you can stream it and Amy’s previous singles, below. And make sure this one makes its way onto your post-pandemic pop playlist.

“Amy Ellen takes inspiration from Australian and American Indie-folk artists such as Julia Jacklin, Angie McMahon, Fleetwood Mac and Sheryl Crow. Axel McDonald’s guitar tone resonates with the sounds of Kurt Vile (Wakin On A Pretty Day), whole heartedly rock n’ roll furthermore complimenting the soothing vocals supported by the uplifting instrumentation throughout the track leaving the listener with what appears to be a lyrical juxtaposition. “When you said these times were hard, you were leaving me in the dark”. – pr
