There’s almost nothing more soothing than 1980s soft rock—even if the subject matter was a bit heavy. Like songs from Lindsey Buckingham, Eric Carmen, Dan Fogelberg, and the like— LA’s Human Barbie (not a cliché, allegedly) has a tune you’d slide right in between.
“Slow Down” (via Bandcamp) is a song beckoning resolution, forgiveness, and pondering what it was. It’s a pretty harsh conundrum to find one’s self in, alas HB’s Chris Hackman’s vocals are so smooth that he’d charm the devil out of any lyrical subject matter…which he, once again, does with seemingly effortless poetic style. Not to mention his backing player’s brilliant retro-pop-rock arrangement. Timeless.
If you like to feel or love the pre-grunge/pre-80s formulaic pop—Stream Human Barbie’s “Slow Down’, here at the GTC.

Nothing comes easy
Feel like a faker
Devil in tears
Wish I could take it
Back from the bottom
Fly for a moment
Jump from a window
Into the ocean…
