When independence, feminism, and nonconformity cross paths with a dancefloor-ready beat inside a retro style pop song, it’s probably Holiday Sidewinder at it again. Prolific Sidewinder’s most recent single “Forever/Whatever” is a personal examination of what the world considers as ‘normal’. No doubt inspired by her last relationship (or perhaps, all of them), the songwriter is working on the ‘going your own way‘ vs. the status quo’s white picket fences. Are family and forever love real things? Do I have to? Yeah, some simple minds would probably presume these sort of inner turmoil conversations were wrapped up sometime in the pre.-80s. Not so, empowerment is an ongoing force and, thankfully, Sidewinder is going there. And you can dance to it…
