Day of The Moon
Today would have the late great Keith John Moon’s 67th birthday. Moon was almost as famous for his notorious off stage antics as he was as the wild-man drummer for The Who.
It has been a great debate on who the best drummer of all time is but the top three seem to always include Keith Moon, Led Zeppelin’s John Bonham and Rush’s Neil Peart. It’s your choice, you’ll never be wrong with these three.
Moon died in died in 1978 from complications of the Rock N’ Roll lifestyle.
You can read all about Keith’s fascinating, troubled and storied life HERE!
We thought we’d celebrate the great Keith Moon on his day of birth with some of his best quotes!
“I told people I was a drummer before I even had a set, I was a mental drummer.” – Keith Moon
“At heart I cannot accept that I am a well-known rock `n` roll star and one of the greatest drummers in the world. I can`t believe that person on the television is really me. The Keith Moon the public knows is a myth, even if I have created him. The real me is the person who sits at home having a cup of tea with his old lady, Annette. The hotel smashing is one way I get relief from the public image. I have no temper. I do it in a spirit of amusment (sic) rather than anger. When I`ve done damage to a friend`s house I come back sheepishly the next day and offer to put things right, which means I`m willing to foot the bill.” – Keith Moon
“My friends call me Keith, but you can call me John.” – Keith Moon
R.I.P. Mr. Moon (1946-1978)
