Birth of Greasy Spoon

Alle & Emi Are Greasy Spoon

By Walter Price

If you are one that fell in love with Rock N’ Roll the first time you ever heard it come through your folk’s hi-fi, you probably dreamt of what it would be like to be making those gritty sounds.

If you’re a steady reader of this blog you undoubtedly have read the reviews of the living encyclopedia of rock music, Alle Royale. As he has been doing for years he has again expanded his love of those soul changing sounds. This time into a new garage rockin’ duo, named after the American & UK heart pounding food meccas, Greasy Spoon.

Consisting of Alle (Vox/guitar) and his brother-in-rock Emi (beats), Greasy Spoon have been quite prolific in posting their demos online and they have been gigging about Italy honing their sound and stage presence. It’s fun to watch a band grow from infancy.

The critical side of me notices that there seems to be a bit of shyness in Alle’s vocals and the distortion is in heavy use but that’s to be expected as a band grows legs and starts to run. One thing is absolute about this new duo, its the respect for the history of rock n’ roll within these two hard drivin’ rhythm and blues based rockers.

If tracks like “Bonzo” and “Leave Me Alone” are any indication on the direction these guys plan to take this journey, then we just may have a new rock behemoth on our hands.

I recently asked Alle about his personal inspirations for the band. As you may have expected, they are varied and legendary in scope.

  • Abba- “Knowing Me, Knowing You”
  • The Raspberries- “Tonight”
  • Iggy and the Stooges- “Search and Destroy”
  • Thin Lizzy- “The Boys Are Back in Town”
  • Kiss- “Black Diamond”

Greasy Spoon is a good time, re-imagining the dreams of countless youths around the world who wanted to pick up that guitar or sticks and rock the walls down.
