Relationships can be confining. Struggles in unfamiliar spaces. Within four walls and mentally. Dysfunction, disdain, rebounds, and unwavering love. This mix can hit you like a wall. How do you deal with it? In the case of Portland slow-fi outfit bed., you write a powerful song.

The song is “Replay”, from an untitled forthcoming debut full-length this Fall via Bug Hunt Records. This track is sonically a bit different from bed-‘s previous releases. No vamping, this song smacks you in the gut from the first note. Just like how the Pixies and L7 used to do. A blast of the blistering-grungy guitar with urgent vocals causing a whirlwind of sounds giving way to melodic change and back again. But this isn’t a retro 90’s track, this is a true story of frustration by a real couple in a partnership that stretches beyond legal and emotional martial contracts. This couple, Sierra and Alex Haager, are many things, a young family, accomplished musicians, songwriters, and business partners.

And trying to wrangle so many tentacles can wear a relationship thin. But having the wherewithal to see things through is “Replay”. Relationships can and will get heavy in an abundance of ways, write a song about it.
