In a vibe reminiscent of any of your favorite breezy and encouraging tracks by the likes of Jenny Lewis, Weezer, Foo Fighters, or Sharon Van Etten; Santa Rose singer-songwriter Meli Levi returns to the music scene with a new summertime beauty called “Close To You”.
From their All Things May Be EP, Levi, via YouTube, has shared the backstory for the single, “I wrote “Close to You” after a heated argument with my lover about something so small. I saw myself fall into old patterns of closing off, getting angry…when really underneath all of that I just wanted to be in their arms again. I wanted to highlight the wanting for connection and intimacy with others that we all have as humans. It’s about remembering what is actually important, of not getting lost in the monotony of daily routine or the stress of the “to do” list… and the reconciliation that can happen as a result.”
Levi’s guitar work, airy vocals, and a tempo that’ll invite you to put aside all the little things and pull your partner close and wiggle around the living room. We could all use a little reminder now and then to do so and we now have a fresh new song to soundtrack those moments.
There’s also a sentimental music video as well. Featuring couples, I assume pals of Levi, doing what they do—laughing, loving, perhaps a tiff or two but ultimately love wins out and everyone is on the floor in a ball of pure glee. Magical.
