Blóðmör – Líkþorn

by Maria Haskins

I first read about Blóðmör on board and IcelandAir flight earlier this week, and I was intrigued enough to check out their music once I was back home. The band is a trio and they play “loud and fast metal/ punk music”. Earlier this year, they won the Battle of the bands in Iceland and attracted a lot of interest from the press and new fans.

“Líkþorn” showcases the bands sound perfectly, raw and powerful, with a whole lot of energy.

The band’s name is inspired by traditional Icelandic blood pudding, and you can read more about them and their win at Guide to Iceland.

The band is: Haukur (Guitar/ Vocals) / Matthías (Bass/ Vocals) / Ísak (Drums)

FLORENCE BLACK – One Way Out

By Maria Savva

We’ve had to wait a while for new music from Florence Black, but the new single “One Way Out” was definitely worth the wait! It’s a fantastic heavy rock track, and I can hear influences from metal bands such as Metallica in there too, I think!

The future of rock and metal is safe in this band’s hands!!

Florence Black will be supporting the mighty Reef in August at Chepstow Castle, along with Bad Touch. That will be an awesome evening! Grab your tickets.

MISTY MILLER – Late

by Neil Schiller

I picked a Misty Miller song for track of the day back in 2017. Back then she was producing really good punk-pop songs and showing herself to be a real promising talent. Since then she’s spent a couple of years in indie duo Bad Parents and is now back with some more solo material in the form of her new EP Fruit.

I’ll break the suspense – this is brilliant. Every time I listen to it I get goosebumps. Miller’s voice is incredible on it. It shows her evolution as an artist brilliantly I think, pulling together some of her early style with things she’s obviously brought back from Bad Parents. It might just be me, but it seems like I can hear echoes of Ok Computer era Thom Yorke in this somewhere. It’s beautiful anyway. Miller is a singer-songwriter who is maturing into something special. If there were any justice in the world ‘Late’ would be playing all over a radio near you right now.
