…smoke you out, FLOUR FLOUR – High in the Basement

Flour Flour – High in the Basement is available at Bandcamp, Apple Music.

Berkeley’s burgeoning alt-rock heroes Flour Flour have just released a crunchy psych-laden single, “High in the Basement“, that’ll have fans of Psychic TV, Love and Rockets, and Dinosaur Jr. wanting to crank it to 11. Celebrating (or perhaps a ‘condemnation of’ if things didn’t work out long term) the rite of passage that is getting high for the first time and the facilitator of said initiation. And it’s a blast!

When you get high it’s just like a drug
Do you like to think stuff?
You can feel your feet float right up off your mom’s rug

And you may find that it helps you
And if not then that’s cool too

So now it’s time you smoked down
And now it’s time you smoked that loud
And if you’ll allow I want to smoke you out

Where were you the first time you were nudged into the dark side? As you recollect, you can stream this blazing new single and the near-classic “Become Animal” now at the GTC.

Berkeley-based Flour Flour is the alt-pop
project of Brian Baughn accompanied on drums by
John Russell. Originally from Idaho, Brian was inspired
to quit a tech job in San Francisco to pursue writing
about the themes of teenage reinvention and discovery
that had begun appearing in his songs– and in doing so
hoped to claim some of the same freedom teenagers
must claim for themselves from their parents
