Bon Jovi Released!

Way back on August 18,1986 Bon Jovi released their landmark album Slippery When Wet

This was the New Jersey natives third studio effort and no matter what you thought of their hair, stage clothes, and Jon Bon Jovi’s obsessive preening for the camera in the slickly produced music videos they released in this period. This album was and is fantastic.

In a time when I’d rather listen to The Smiths, Siouxsie & The Banshees, Police, Pink Floyd or The Cult I found myself slipping this cassette into the ol’ boombox and feeling extremely satisfied with my choice. Plus the ladies loved them some Jon Bon Jovi!

Every track is, now, a classic and I would guess a good 50% of the world knows most of the lyrics. The writing team of Richie Sambora and Jon Bon Jovi is like musical peanut butter and jam. They are meant to be together, still tasty on their own but awesome as a unit.

Slippery When Wet spawned several radio hits and went on to sell 28 million copies worldwide. Not too bad for these Jersey boys. This is totally subjective but the best tracks on this 80’s masterpiece are “You Give Love A Bad Name”, “Without Love’, “Wanted Dead or Alive” and “Wild In The Streets”. But you have a copy someplace, take another listen and formulate your own ‘best list’.

You can see the boys out on the road starting in September. See dates HERE.
