Your Weekly Top Ten: 23 – 29 June 2014

What a funny thing it is really. A full seven days pass without any new news on who (or perhaps what) Randy Fitzsimmons is…Biggerfish as ‘they’ say.

First things first, a giant Thank You to The Walkabouts‘ Chris Eckman for stopping by our beer and, sometimes, tear stained portion of the internet to share with us 25 unknown things about the perpetually innovative band. You, Chris, momentarily classed this place up. Please stop over at Glitterhouse Records to check out The Walkabout’s recent reissues of Devil’s Road and Nighttown.
Last week we joined the world in salutes and remembrances as we sadly learned of the passing of a true Grand Ol Opry legend Jimmy C. Newman and the man of soul Bobby Womack. You both will live on in our and millions of record collections across world.
Last week we also learned that Mastodon have out Mastodon’d themselves, Sam Coffey & The Iron Lungs are making sweet country-soul-punk, we still don’t know anything about what a Jake Bugg is, Passenger has another super album out, J.P. Kallio can’t stop writing and releasing killer tracks, Gene Simmons has a bladder problem, UK indie band Ten-79 deserve your attention, Metallica proved (again) that they are superbly more kind/professional than 92% of all hipster bands. We also found out that promoting your show by posting “blood cocaine botox silicone vegan tacos CUM early WE open 8PM sick already WEDNESDAY 7/2 Los Globos…” is okay, who knew. Speaking of Everyone Is Dirty, they’re hitting the road in anticipation of their new album Dying Is Fun out 2 September (Tricycle Records). They’re gonna getcha getcha getcha getcha
Good grief, we had no idea our brain holes could hold so much info…How was our week?
You know we have to send big cheers and e-hugs to all of you who stopped by last week to greatly enjoy or even passively tolerate all the goings on over here at the ole GTC. You are our world. High Five!

Doing whatever I had to do to survive
I’m not saying what I did was alright
Trying to break out of the ghetto was a day to day fight
