The Blank Tapes – “Paradise” from the new album ‘Candy’, pre-order on iTunes.
by Walter Price
One of the most prolific songwriters and performers, Matt Adams, has been nurturing a worldwide laidback fanbase since 2003. Touring Europe, North and South America and releasing more music than just about anyone you can think of. If I’m correct, Adam’s and his band The Blank Tapes have released some 20 albums and EPs in the past 15 years. Which you can sample some of their best work on the compilation ‘Collection 2003-2017’ on Spotify.
After you check out that must have career-spanning best of, dig into the band’s new single “Paradise” from the forthcoming album ‘Candy’ (out 29 June 2018). A breezy California track delivered in all that well manicured timeless psych-pop the Tapes have become known for. My ears tell me the production on this particular track hints at something new. Maybe it’s the production work of Eric D. Johnson (Fruit Bats) or perhaps its simply mores sonic exploration by a band that is in perpetual motion. Whichever, “Paradise” will fit on your Summer playlist just fine indeed.
