An Easter Three-Way: Popular songs about Jesus

Easter and the songs you didn’t know were about Jesus.

Easter songs

by Walter Price

From the long-ago Pagans rituals to the German immigrants in the Pennsylvania Dutch area of the 18th Century America, the folks of the world celebrate Easter in many different ways. These days children around the world wait for the fabled and generous Easter Bunny to hide colorful eggs and yummy sugar treats. But in the world of Christians, the holiday is in honor of the resurrection of Jesus. Situated annually at the end of ‘Holy Week’ and the Sunday right after Good Friday, Easter, at times, has lost its true meaning. Just like the three songs I’ve curated. Songs you probably didn’t know were about Jesus.

Lenny Kravitz – Are You Gonna Go My Way

I was born long ago
I am the chosen I’m the one
I have come to save the day
And I won’t leave until I’m done

Johnny Cash – The Man Comes Around

There’s a man goin’ ’round takin’ names
And he decides who to free and who to blame
Everybody won’t be treated all the same
There’ll be a golden ladder reachin’ down
When the man comes around

U2 – Until The End Of The World

Haven’t seen you in quite a while
I was down the hold just passing time
Last time we met was a low-lit room
We were as close together as a bride and groom
We ate the food, we drank the wine
Everybody having a good time
Except you
You were talking about the end of the world
